Midland County Tobacco Reduction Coalition

The goal of the Midland County Tobacco Reduction Coalition is to improve our community’s health by advocating for smoke-free environments,greater access to tobacco treatment, and youth-focused prevention programs.

We are looking for new members to join our coalition and help by:

  • Serving as a display attendant
  • Contacting elected officials
  • Distributing awareness information and planning strategies
  • Volunteering on special projects as needed.

Coalition Successes:

  • Midland Mall becomes smoke-free
  • Smoking completely eliminated from all county buildings and vehicles
  • Midland County passed smoke-free work sites and public place regulation
  • Adult smoking rate declines from 26.5% in 1998 to 20.8% in 2006
